02 / THE PERSON BEHIND THE CAMERA

Hey,
I’m Sascha.

Sascha Wett with his camera in a restaurant

I’m Sascha, a photographer based in Cologne, and together with my husband Torsten I run the food blog “Die Jungs kochen und backen”. Because I love cooking and developing recipes myself, I know the food in front of my camera from the kitchen, too.

When I shoot, I like to take my time with light and details. In restaurants and hotels, I let the people and the atmosphere inspire me and love capturing whatever is happening in the moment.

I’m on the calmer side and work best in an open exchange. It matters to me that everyone on set feels at ease and can bring in their own ideas. And I’ll still make time for a spontaneous idea, even when the planned shot is already done.

What we can
create together.

I like developing ideas together best.
With a shared visual concept and
enough room to try things out on set.

01

Food photography & cookbooks

For food campaigns, cookbooks and editorial features, I photograph dishes, ingredients and drinks. My own experience with recipes and my eye for light and texture help me along the way.

02

Products & campaigns

Together we develop a visual idea that suits your product. From there come single images and cohesive series for social media, websites, print and packaging.

03

Hospitality & travel

Food, spaces, people and the mood in between. I work with restaurants, hotels and destinations and capture what it feels like to be there.

04

Concept, photo & video

From the first conversation through visual concept and shoot to retouching and final formats. Through Oma Lore Kreativagentur and Foodstudio, recipe development, food styling and video can be part of the production, too.

FROM IDEA TO FINISHED IMAGE

How we work
together.

A good exchange helps us create the images you need for your project.

  1. We talk about your project

You tell me about your idea, the timeline and where the images will be used. Together we define the scope and the basis for a fitting quote.

  2. We develop the visual idea

We align on subjects, visual language and the shoot. References, props and planning together help us along the way.

  3. We shoot

In the studio or at your location, we take our time with light and details. There’s room on set for your ideas and spontaneous moments, too.

  4. You receive the final images

After selection and editing, you get the photos in the agreed formats, ready for the channels where you want to use them.

Let’s talk about your project

FAQ

Good to know
before we start.

What does a food shoot cost?

It mainly depends on four things: how many images you need, how much styling and propping is involved, whether we shoot in the studio or at your location, and where the images will be used. Tell me briefly about your project and you’ll get a clear quote that lists production and usage rights separately.

Which usage rights do I get?

Exactly the ones you need. Together we define where the images will appear, for example on social media, your website, in print, on packaging or in ads, and for which period and territory. That way you never pay for rights you won’t use.

Do you shoot in the studio or on location?

Both. Products, recipes and cookbooks are usually created at the Oma Lore Foodstudio in Cologne-Kalk, with over 100 m², a full kitchen and daylight. For restaurants, hotels and destinations, I come to you, across Germany and internationally.

Do you also take care of recipes and food styling?

Yes. Together with Torsten, we develop recipes, cook them in the studio and style them for the camera. Through Oma Lore Kreativagentur and Foodstudio, props and video are possible too, all from one team.

How does a cookbook project work?

We start with a visual concept that fits the book and its readers, plan the shoot days and cook the recipes in the studio. We stay in close contact with the publisher and authors until the print-ready files are done. Publishers I’ve worked for include Riva, Hölker, Community Editions, Christian Verlag and Naumann & Göbel.

How quickly will I get the images?

We set the delivery date in the quote, so you can plan with confidence. If it’s urgent, let me know up front and we’ll plan selection and editing accordingly.

Do you work internationally and in English?

Yes, gladly. As a food photographer based in Cologne, I regularly work for destinations, hotels and brands abroad. Briefing, quote and shoot run smoothly in English.
